Correct phase identification in the field is now more important than ever. The PhaseID System provides an accurate solution for identifying phasing attributes on the system, either overhead, underground, live front or dead front. Although neutral imbalance is a costly affliction all utilities face, recent research indicates these losses can now be minimized. The term "soft dollar loss" rides on outdated technologies. By applying the PhaseID System to your system, it can result in yearly hard dollar savings ranging from thousands to millions of dollars, depending on your system's size and applicable fuel costs you spend annually.

The concept behind the PhaseID System is very simple.  Every GPS second, the base station at the dispatch office measures a reference phase using any 120V outlet and stores this phase, along with the GPS second at which it was taken, in a data file on the PC.

When the field probe touches an energized line, a phase measurement is taken at the next GPS second and encoded, along with the GPS second at which it was taken, into a 9-digit sequence.

When this sequence is entered into the base station PC, it retrieves the 120V outlet phase taken at the same GPS second, compares them, and determines the field location phase attribute.
